Kenneth James Whitehead was born on the 20th July 1946 and died on the 4th February 1999. He was 52 yrs old. Although my dad was retired on health grounds he was a warehouse operative , but before that he was a time served civil engineer. He lived in Rochdale his whole life, he was the only living son of Frank and Mona Whitehead, as his older brother was born sleeping. He married Lynda on 17th July 1976, and they had 3 daughters, the eldest was Samantha, born in 1978, then Sarah,born in 1981 and finally Anneka, who was born in 1987. Ken has 2 grandsons, Tyler who was born in 2001, and Isaac who was born sleeping in 2007. Both of whom were named after him. Ken also has a lovely grandaughter, Amelia, who too, was named after him. He would have loved her and she would have been soo spoilt.
Ken was an avid fan of Rochdale football club, and took all three of his daughters to the games. We spent many a Saturday afternoon stood on the terraces cheering them on.
He started his working life as an aprentice at Farrell Bridges, an engineering firm in Castleton. There he worked as a plaino miller, building and repairing machines.
From there he went to the Woolworths distribution centre in Castleton, where he worked as an order picker.
Ken had suffered from renal failure for most of his life, and had a transplant in 1994, which resulted in other health problems. He passed away peacefully in hospital after suffering a stroke and major organ failure.
My dad was the best dad in the world, always having time and money for his three girls. He would happily give us his last penny if it ment him seeing a smile on our faces. We were the apples of his eye. He was a lovely man, who taught us right from wrong, and ensured we had the best things he could afford to buy for us.
He was a genuine, caring man, who always put his family first. If he was here now, he would be a lovely Grandad to Tyler, and to his sleeping angel Isaac. He would have the Grandsons he always wanted. He would be taking them every Saturday afternoon, to watch his beloved football team, Rochdale play.
I'll never understand why God called you to join him, but I take great comfort in knowing that you are no longer suffering and in pain. I also know that Isaac is in great hands being taken care of by his Grandad Ken. I know you will teach him right from wrong, and how to be a good, kind, loving person.
We miss you soo much dad, not a day goes by without us thinking of you.

Well dad bet ur having one huge party tonight. Your beloved Dale have got the promotion they deserve. As from next season they will be playing in league 1. Gonna make sure Amelia gets the new season kit so she can make her grandad a very proud man. xx
Hiya dad. 11 yrs has gone by soo quickly. Wish soo much u were still here to cuddle me when i have a bad day. Just wanted to tell u that ur grandaughter is now the very proud owner od a 'Dale football kit along with some very cute pink baby dale t-shirts. Bet u would have loved to take her upto spotland with u all kitted out ready to watch your team. With a bit of luck they will get promoted this season as they have played so well so far and are at the top of the league.

Hey Ken. Can't believe it's been so long since you were taken from the world but there isn't a day goes by without you being thought about.
If you could see how the girls have turned out I know with all my heart that you would be one proud dad.
Annie doesn't talk about it much but I know her and even if she isn't talking about you, she is still thinking about you.
Sprinkle some love over them and let them know you're doing ok.

Im sorry i havent been on for a while but i have had a bit of a rough time recently. It was isaacs 1st birthday this week, and im sure u and his grandad john gave him a party to remember. Also, u are gonna be a grandad again in the summer. we found out isaac had sent us a very special pressent for christmas. Dad i miss u so much it really hurts. Its times like this when i am feeling low i miss u the most. If u were here now u would be shouting at me an mom for allowing annie to get her first tattoo, and u would be annoyed wiv me the most as i am paying for her to have it done as her 21st present. I cant believe it either ur lil baby girl is 21 now dad. It doesnt seem that long scince she was born.

i miss you so much it's mad i have so much that i wanna tell you. I didn't know how i would carry on living without you but sam and sarah have always been there for me. Like our saz said Tyler is doing really well in school i'm really proud of him and you would be too. Tyler knows who you are he is always picking up you photo album and sittin on mum's knee looking at them saying 'look nana it grandad'

Hi dad. It was tylers 6th birthday party today, and you were missed by us all. Please make sure the babies are safe wiv you and u take them to watch the fireworks, just make sure they dont stay up too late though, or me or toni wont be very happy. Hi dad, Annie has added her favourite song today for you, and I have finally managed to upload my favourite song by your favourite singer. I remember you keep telling me to turn of my music coz you said it sounded bloody awful, and then you went out to the races and on a night out, and you saw a meat loaf tribute artist. After that you were hooked. I chose this song for your funeral, as i felt it was very apropriate for you. Coz I didnt want to have to say goodbye to.
